Matteo Gabbia spoke to the media after AC Milan’s win against Bari, thanking the fans who showed up while making it clear that they have left last season behind.
Gabbia played from start to finish in the central position of the three-man defence. While he wasn’t tested that much, he still got the job done and earned a 6/10 in our player ratings. As such, it was a positive start both for him and the team.
Speaking to Mediaset after the game, as transcribed by MilanNews, the centre-back thanked the fans for showing up at San Siro. He also stated that the staff have helped the players leave last season behind, putting all of their focus on the present.
A completely different mood compared to last season…
“We definitely tried to leave last season behind us from day one. We did well, both us and the Milanello staff, in resetting everything. A special thanks to everyone who came today; a stadium like this in August is incredible.”
Do you believe in the Scudetto?
“It’s not a matter of belief, but of willpower. We have the ambition to win all of the games; it’s something that comes from the shirt we wear. This isn’t the time for proclamations: it’s the time to be clear-headed, humble, focused, and hard-working.”
Cremonese are up next for the Rossoneri, scheduled for Saturday next week, and that is what many see as the ‘proper’ start to the season. Indeed, it goes without saying that they will have to win that game.
