Jean-Philippe Mateta appears to be getting closer to AC Milan, with negotiations now at an advanced stage, and this was naturally the main focus of the newspapers this morning.
What initially seemed like a certain summer reinforcement has turned into a concrete January pursuit. Indeed, Milan are hoping to land Mateta before the end of the transfer window, which would definitely say something about their ambitions in the Scudetto race.
Having said that, even if the negotiations are at an advanced stage, there are still some things to sort out before it can be called a done deal. Crystal Palace need to find a replacement and Milan will have to offload Christopher Nkunku, who isn’t too keen on leaving.
