AC Milan moved to the top of the standings last night, beating Lazio 1-0, and the newspapers obviously focused on the Rossoneri’s positive run of form this morning.
We have seen a lot better games from Massimiliano Allegri’s men this season, but the most important thing is always to win. On top of that, Lazio didn’t exactly shine either so it felt like the two sides cancelled each other out a little.
In the end, Rafael Leao’s opener in the 52nd minute was enough for the Rossoneri, but it wasn’t without drama. In the dying minutes of stoppage time, Lazio appealed for a handball and as the referee went over to the VAR screen, Allegri was sent off.
The referee eventually awarded a free-kick to Milan, saying that a foul was committed before the ball struck Strahinja Pavlovic’s arm. It’s a decision that has caused a lot of debate, with most agreeing that it shouldn’t have been a free-kick but also not a penalty.
