AC Milan surrendered top spot to their city rivals Inter on Sunday after drawing 2-2 at home against Sassuolo in the early kick-off.

The visitors took the lead through a nicely worked goal by Ismael Kone, but Davide Bartesaghi scored just before and just after half-time – his first two goals for the club – to put Milan 2-1 ahead.

A third goal from Christian Pulisic was controversially chalked off, before Armand Lauriente netted off the bench to earn Sassuolo a share of the points at San Siro.

Today’s front pages

Napoli lost to Udinese so it was actually one point gained on them, but Inter’s win at Genoa means that Milan will head into Christmas second. Below are how the papers look.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Little devil. Milan and the nightmare of newly-promoted teams. Thank goodness for Bartesaghi.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Laurienté freezes Allegri, Sassuolo comeback (2-2).”

Tuttosport: “Milan stumble against Sassuolo. The newly promoted teams are hard to stomach for the Rossoneri, who aren’t satisfied with Bartesaghi’s brace: a heart-pounding 2-2 draw at San Siro after the draw against Pisa and the defeat against Cremonese.”

QS: “Bartesaghi, a dream brace. But for Allegri, it’s a bittersweet draw.”
