AC Milan fell behind in a third straight Serie A game, and this time they were able to come back to win all three points against Como.
After Inter beat Lecce on Wednesday night following Napoli’s draw with Parma, there was added pressure for Milan to get a result by the lake, and they did after a first half that they largely spent defending their own box.
Kempf’s header put the hosts ahead relatively early on, but Christopher Nkunku’s penalty just before the break was the foothold the Rossoneri needed. It set the platform for Adrien Rabiot’s second-half brace, which secured all three points in a 3-1 win.
Today’s front pages
Below is how the Italian sports newspapers look this morning, with each of the big four referencing the comeback win for Milan.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “The Diavolo are here. Milan respond to Inter and go back to -3. Como take the lead, then Maignan shines. Rabiot turns things around: penalty won and brace. Nkunku from the spot, not Leao. The goalkeeper a step away from a renewal.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Raboom. Milan are three points behind Inter. Allegri wins and chases. Como play well and dominate, Paz tests Maignan, but this time it’s Adrien who decides. Kempf scares Max, Nkunku equalises from the penalty spot, then Rabiot unleashes a brace. Galatasaray want Fofana.”
Tuttosport: “Rabiot and Allegri are hunting Inter! Maignan’s superb performance and suffering: then the former Juve player’s brace lifts Milan to glory in Como. The Frenchman also wins Nkunku’s penalty to level the score at 1-1. The Rossoneri are back within three points of the league leaders: the standings are now ‘real’.”
QS: “Rabiot at the Max, Milan are there. Adrien’s double turns it around against Como: the Diavolo are three points behind Inter.”
