Galliani insists he was watching Milan as a fan and denies return rumours: “Nothing’s true”

Adriano Galliani has strongly suggested that he will not be returning to any role at AC Milan, despite speculation otherwise.

In the past 24 hours, the reliable journalist Matteo Moretto reiterated his belief that Galliani’s Milan comeback is just a matter of time. He spoke of a verbal pact being in place with the ownership, and that only the sale of Monza was required to get things moving.

What fuelled these rumours is the fact that Galliani was sitting alongside the CEO Giorgio Furlani in the stands during the 1-0 win over Bologna on Sunday night. The pair were seen chatting and laughing, just as they had been a few days prior at the Gentleman Awards.

‘Nothing is true’

Galliani was approached by AGI on the streets of Rome and answered a couple of questions about his possible return to Milan, with the comments via MilanNews.

The fans, who saw you on Sunday at San Siro, dreamed of seeing you back in the management soon. How much truth is there in this?

“Nothing’s true. I’m a Milan fan, 31 years of Milan: I came to San Siro to be a Milan fan and cheer on my favourite team. I’ve always done that over the years. With Berlusconi, we sold Milan in 2017, eight years have passed.

“I’ve always continued to watch Milan, as long as it’s compatible with Monza’s matches. It’s not like I just went on Sunday night… So, nothing, forza Milan.”

Is Modric a footballer that Berlusconi would have liked?

“Modric is a champion. On Sunday I was sitting next to our coach Gattuso and other former Milan players like Ambrosini, and I told them he’s a professor like Pirlo: it used to be said that he’s one of those players who alone are worth the price of admission.”
