Manchester City took on Liverpool needing to win to keep pressure in the Premier League title race

Gary Neville was forced to hold back in his criticism of Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush during their showdown with Liverpool. The former Manchester United defender felt that the Egyptian should have knocked the ball past Alisson Becker and got the Reds' shot-stopper sent off.
The host's goalkeeper was caught in no man's land after a looping pass set the striker in behind the Liverpool defence. The Brazilian steamed out and almost collided with Marmoush but the City attacker pulled out, allowing Arne Slot's side to survive the danger.
Neville, who was on co-commentary for Sky Sports, had to stop himself from speaking his mind after the incident.

Alisson was never there. I think Marmoush... I wish I could speak my mind. Don't back off there, head it past him and get him sent off!"
City dominated the first half against their Premier League rivals with Erling Haaland being denied by Alisson in the opening minutes before Milos Kerkez cleared off the line.
Liverpool had to be patient and weather a storm from Pep Guardiola's side but they began to turn the screw in the second-half. It wasn't until 15 minutes from time that the deadlock was broken when Dominik Szoboszlai fired a long-range free-kick.
But just 10 minutes later, the scores were level after Bernardo Silva scored his first goal since May.
The Portuguese reacted quickest from Haaland's flick-on and stabbed home.
