Samuele Ricci is one of the brightest midfielders in the Italian set-up. However, he has rarely featured for AC Milan this season.
With the funds that were received for Tijjani Reijnders’ sale, Milan went and bought Ricci straight away. The idea had been present for a while before, but a move was decided upon once interest in the Dutchman stepped up.
However, shortly after, Milan signed Luka Modric, which has proven to be a fantastic decision. Though it means that Ricci’s playing time has been cut short, due to the Croatian taking up a deeper role in the midfield.

Ricci missing from Azzurri
In Serie A this season, the Italian has averaged just 20 minutes per game, making three appearances. Something that few would have imagined when he signed. Now, that is having a knock-on effect on his minutes internationally.
Speaking at the press conference today, Gennaro Gattuso spoke about his situation, as Pazzi Di Fanta relays.
“Ricci? I hope he can find his place at Milan, but all is not lost; he can only learn from Modric.”
