Some rather worrying news has emerged regarding Mike Maignan’s future: a major rival are targeting the AC Milan goalkeeper.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Juventus see Maignan as their ‘goalkeeper of the future’. Their management want ‘experienced and charismatic players’ to raise the team’s level, and the Frenchman fits the bill.
The 30-year-old is a starter for Didier Deschamps’ France side, has been playing in Serie A since 2021 and has won two league titles in his career. One came with Milan (the 2021-22 Scudetto) and one with Lille (2020-21 league title) alongside Juventus’ Jonathan David.
Contract and competition
David joined Juve on a free and the same fate could befall Maignan. Unless there are changes in his plans, he will leave Milan at the end of the season. Negotiations for his contract renewal have been stalled for some time, and Mike seems inclined to try a new experience.
This is despite the admiration of Massimiliano Allegri, who blocked his move to Chelsea this summer. Maignan is poised to be one of the top free agents in the upcoming summer transfer window, much like Dusan Vlahovic (who has the same deadline).
Juventus have gathered information and is ready to enter the race for the ex-PSG man. His audition at the Allianz Stadium – in which his superb reflexes prevented Federico Gatti from scoring – seem to have convinced everyone.

October isn’t the time for moves yet, but the evaluations have already begun. The Bianconeri are ready to dive in to see if the deal is feasible. It will depend on the Frenchman’s wishes and financial demands: he currently earns €2.8m net per year and benefits from the Growth Decree.
Juve are interested, but they’re not the only big club sniffing out the opportunity to snap up a world-class goalkeeper at the end of his contract. Chelsea are keen, and even more recently Bayern Munich have expressed interest.
Without a renewal – and signs point to a split with Milan – the former Lille star will be free to choose the club he wants to join for free at the start of 2026, and this is something the Rossoneri fear.
