AC Milan and Juventus will both offer up a star in Sunday’s game, both of whom have started the season well: Christian Pulisic and Kenan Yildiz.
At a time when the stars of football are normally shipped elsewhere quickly, we have to treasure the battles in the big games. So, this weekend’s chance to see Yildiz and Pulisic face off at the top of their game is exciting for several reasons, even if there is one that everyone wants to see on top.
This morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport looks at the duo, why they are inspirational for their team, but also how they differ.
Stars for Sunday
The first point to make is that they are at different stages of their careers. Yildiz is at the start of his journey, whilst the American is mature and potentially entering the prime of his career. A seven-year gap, and whilst it doesn’t really matter, it can shape things.
Yildiz is promising, whilst Pulisic is a ‘season champion’. The former may be stronger, but the latter is slightly more agile. Their numbers, albeit it similar importance, arrive with different weights. Then, there is the focus; for Pulisic, it is goals, clearly, whilst Yildiz has not gotten to that point, yet.
Both can beat their opposition with their feet, can shoot well, are quick, and provide for their teammates. In many ways, even if they are very different, they are extremely similar from a basic viewpoint.
This weekend, the game looks to be in Pulisic’s favour;, he is the champion, at least for now, of a Milan team on the rise. His role is more defined, whilst Yildiz is forced to be the champion of the uncertain. If either team is to be happy this weekend, they will surely play a big role.
