Massimiliano Allegri has a thing for the specifics and in the mercato, it is being shown. Now, AC Milan are after another name, but there could be some leeway.

During the summer mercato, profile hunting was a theme, but Allegri regularly requested specific players from the management. Adrien Rabiot is an example of a successful acquisition. However, others did not arrive.

In the lead-up to January, the theme continued and almost halfway through the month, the Italian is continuing to persist with one idea, despite setbacks.

Gatti problem

That idea, as Gazzetta dello Sport writes, is to sign Federico Gatti, who is searching for a place in Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus team. However, the lack of a role so far has not pushed him towards an exit.

Instead, he is happy to remain put. That is not stopping Allegri, though. He is clear that he wants a defender with ‘more determination’, but that is not it. Instead, any January signing must be a top class defeneder, with ‘grit, good positioning and a spirit of sacrifice’.

As the report suggests, qualities that define Gatti. Of course, things may change between now and the end of the month, but those parameters may need extending if a defender is needed and Gatti is unavailable.
