Massimiliano Allegri has given his players some rest ahead of the game against Hellas Verona next week, hoping that it will help them clear their heads.
The defeat against Napoli on Thursday evening meant the Rossoneri were knocked out of the Supercoppa Italiana. Yesterday, Inter faced the same fate after being beaten by Bologna on penalties, meaning it’s Napoli-Bologna in the final.
In any case, since they were also knocked out of the Coppa Italia, Milan only have the league to focus on now for the remainder of the season. Subsequently, Allegri will have more opportunities to give his players more rest than the rivals.
As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), the manager has already made the most of this as the players won’t be back in training until Monday. They all returned to Italy from Riyadh yesterday afternoon and Allegri is hoping that the rest can help them forget about the defeat.

The goal is to recover both Rafael Leao and Matteo Gabbia for the Verona game on Sunday next week, but the situation remains uncertain for now. As for Santiago Gimenez, he underwent surgery on Thursday and the recovery time is expected to be 6-8 weeks.
