After last season, there are several players seeking revenge at AC Milan. However, there are also some who don’t have the burden of last year weighing on them.
Before the Pisa game, Massimiliano Allegri stated that Milan was a team seeking revenge when he was asked about the qualities of his squad. Of course, this can be rather cliché, but with the Rossoneri, it is true.
The revenge seekers
As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, it is not unexpected for the response to be about revenge. After last season, the club needs revenge. It was a poor year by all standards, but even those who were not in the dressing room have taken on that feeling, whilst also having their own.
It starts with Allegri himself, too. The Italian had a ‘bitter aftertaste’ following his exit from Juventus, despite winning the Coppa Italia. Instead of rushing back into work, he waited for the right job and the right opportunity. In Milanello he has found it, and he is getting back on track (if he ever left it) with a high-level club.

Mike Maignan and Fikayo Tomori can also be brought into the category of revenge, given that both seemed to be heading towards exits. However, they remained keen to prove their points after a poor season. Like their coach, they are both doing so, with one renewal secured and another in waiting.
Finally, there are a few others who are looking to get back to their best. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is the most obvious, given his recent struggles with injuries and his general lack of game time.
Then, cases can be made for both French arrivals, Adrien Rabiot and Christopher Nkunku. Both were let go in the summer and are now keen to show their former clubs what they are missing out on. Perhaps, even, there is a revenge element for Nkunku after the January mercato.
