GdS: Allegri message to the group after Pisa – Loftus-Cheek’s issue and first half problems

1 hour ago 12

AC Milan got three points against Pisa on Friday night, but it certainly wasn’t easy and Massimiliano Allegri had a few things to say to his squad after.

Above all, it is a win for Milan against a newly promoted side. It feels strange to be celebrating that in February. However, it has troubled the club all season, and a sigh of relief can be had at the fact that they now have a win to look back at.

Was it pretty? No. Was it important? Definitely.

Three points mean that the Rossoneri stay in the title race, and it certainly could have been a different situation had Luka Modric not scored late.

Allegri’s message

After the game, as MilanNews recalls from Gazzetta dello Sport, Allegri had a few things of note to say to his players after the game.

Firstly, he addressed Ruben Loftus-Cheek, feeling that he was leaving Christopher Nkunku isolated up front, given he was dropping too deep at times. Instead, the Italian wanted him to stretch the defence and play as a centre forward.

This explains the decision to bring on a natural striker in Niclas Fullkrug.

Then, he addressed the fact that the game should’ve been done sooner. They primarily should have had more control over the pace of the game, but they also had chances to put the game to bed, which they failed to do.

Mistakes happen, of course, but in this part of the season, they can be much more costly.
