GdS: Allegri to reverse changes from Fiorentina game for Como – the expected team

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri will make more changes to his side for the game against Como tomorrow night.

Some eyebrows were raised when Allegri opted to make six alterations to the starting line-up for the game against Fiorentina, albeit with a couple being forced and the game coming less than 65 hours after the one against Genoa at San Siro.

Now, a difficult trip to face Como beckons on Thursday night in what will be a third game in one week, so once again there is the need to keep an eye on player workloads, with a couple of new injury issues too.

Changes coming

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write that compared to Sunday, the midfield will be completely new, with Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot certainly returning to the starting lineup. Rabiot gritted his teeth on Sunday and will continue to do so after his foot injury.

Youssouf Fofana has a slight advantage over Ruben Loftus-Cheek for the other midfield position, given that the Englishman appeared to be running out of steam before being withdrawn at the Franchi.

On the left, Davide Bartesaghi will once again start, with Pervis Estupinan on the bench. Alexis Saelemaekers will keep his place. In defence, Fikayo Tomori returns, having been courted by Galatasaray but unwilling to move.

Strahinja Pavlovic is out – as Allegri confirmed is his pre-match press conference – after a head injury that needed nine stitches. Yesterday, the Serbian made himself available to Allegri and would like to play, but Koni De Winter is ready to replace him.

Niclas Füllkrug will not be available after breaking his toe but hopes to recover for the weekend. After today’s training session, the team will remain in retreat at Milanello, where they will carry out set-piece exercises tomorrow morning. They depart for Como tomorrow, late in the morning.
