GdS: ‘Anything is possible’ – Milan not against Nkunku sale as Turkish sirens sound

Christopher Nkunku’s start to AC Milan life has not been brilliant, and it is not hard to see why. Seeing the solution, though, is challenging. 

Football is not as simple as selling because a player does badly, especially in the first six months. Of course, there are times when this occurs, but it is far from regular. Yet, with Nkunku, it has seemed like the most likely option.

In the past few weeks, the Frenchman has effectively already been shown the door, but he has not found a new club yet. Saying that, things change quickly in January, and both sides of the door show that.

Brace to save face?

Against Verona, the forward showed a new side of himself, a goalscorer. He took the penalty to ‘break free’, as Gazzetta dello Sport wrote in this morning’s edition (seen below), and then he grabbed a second in typical striker fashion.

Of course, he is not the physical man that Massimiliano Allegri desires. However, if he can poach in the box like that, who knows if that physicality is needed? Now, on Friday, the hope will be that he can continue in this manner.

Rafael Leao is expected to be on the bench, and with more signs of being a €40 million man, his future could be ahead of him with the Rossoneri. It is not a completed mission; he must continue to ‘encourage the club with goals’.

Turkish sirens

If he fails to do that, an exit could also be possible, regardless of that brace. In Turkey, Fenerbahce are looking to strengthen and the Frenchman’s former coach, Domenico Tedesco, could push for the move.

Nkunku would be a ‘crucial’ addition in his eyes, and with evaluations ongoing, a departure cannot be ruled out. It would be an instant transfer, perhaps for as much as what he arrived for in the summer. January is a big month, and things can change quickly.
