Mike Maignan is injured again, so AC Milan may need to look to a young option to save them. That solution could be Lorenzo Torriani.
There are two choices for Milan currently. Either start with a known quantity in Pietro Terracciano, or give trust to the youth and try Torriani. As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, the fans are vocal about the latter. But, would it be right?
Praise and meetings
The article starts rather simply, questioning whether he could be the saviour of the Rossoneri. After all, when called upon, he has regularly impressed, and the fans have already taken to him.
Already, he has received praise from Don Carlo Ancelotti. Last summer, the legend stated that he was ‘impressed’ by the young Milanista, who ‘seemed very good’ to him. Praise that arrives very rarely at that age from someone who has seen it all.
He is a ‘keeper on the rise, this much is known. However, finding the right path is difficult. He could be on loan, playing week in week out, but then he wouldn’t gain the advantage of learning from Maignan and Terracciano. Also, he would not have had the chance to meet Gianlugi Buffon, even if it was a brief encounter.
Torriani’s situation
Despite being 1.97 metres tall, the keeper moves like someone much shorter than him. Paulo Fonseca saw him as a great keeper, with good footwork, and he even tried to bring him to France this summer. However, Milan chose to keep him at the club.
If the Diavolo were to try the young Italian now, they could kill two birds with one stone. After all, if he is ready to start now, there would, perhaps, be less of a need to invest in a new starter next summer. It remains to be seen.
