GdS: Clarification arrives as Milan-Como moves back to Italy – the details

San Siro not being available meant that AC Milan would play Como elsewhere, perhaps in Australia. Now, though, it seems the game could be played at home.

When reports first suggested that San Siro would not be available for the game against Como, the initial reaction was confusion, especially with some suggesting that Milan could play in Australia. Over the past few months, though, those worries became tangible.

There has been concrete movement to make the game happen in Perth, and even UEFA agreed to allow the game to take place elsewhere. However, plans were cancelled yesterday, with confirmations not being reached.

Of course, the possibility lasted longer than most expected. But the move to keep the game in Italy can only be viewed as a good thing. The scare of games abroad, though, was certainly clearer than ever before.

Back to San Siro

As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, the question now is where, and when? It seems that the fixture will, as scheduled to, take place at San Siro. However, it cannot take place on the weekend of February 7-8, which started this debacle off.

Instead, the game will take place on either the 17th of February or the 24th, depending on when Inter could play at San Siro for the Champions League. Should the Nerazzurri require its use on the 17th (which is the preferred date), then the Como game will be pushed back a week.
