Christopher Nkunku was the third-last signing that AC Milan made in the summer window, and they are fully convinced by the investment.
The deal came about rather quickly towards the end of the window and Milan will pay €35m plus bonuses as per widespread reports, which represents a sizeable sum. A few days ago, the signing was made official by the club and he was also given a long-term deal.
Why Nkunku?
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Nkunku was one €37m piece of the mission to add more winning experience to the dressing room. The 69 trophies that the new trio Luka Modric (34), Adrien Rabiot (21) and Nkunku (14) bring adds a lot to the team.
The versatility that the Frenchman provides will also be very useful given that he can play virtually any forward position, from the wings to attacking midfielder, from false nine to second striker, and his preferred attacking midfielder role.

The report adds that the management consider the former PSG man to be a ‘top player coming off a year below his level’ at Chelsea. They know the 27-year-old was in the sights of several clubs competing in next summer’s Champions League this summer.
However, the Rossoneri were the ones who put forward the most convincing project for him, as he revealed in his first interview: “I was overjoyed. I’m very excited to be here. I was convinced by the project from the first moment, I’m very happy to be here.”
