GdS: Contract bonuses show Rabiot believes in Milan project – the details

Adrien Rabiot accepted a contract with many bonuses at AC Milan, earning a little bit less in terms of guaranteed wages, which shows that he believes in the project.

Rabiot was one of two deadline-day signings for the Rossoneri, bringing in David Odogu as well, and there’s no doubt that he will bring a lot to the team. In addition to his experience and quality, he also has a great relationship with Allegri.

As if that wasn’t enough, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Rabiot accepted a slightly lower salary to join the club. Indeed, the only way that he can bring up the figure is by achieving targets, with many bonuses included.

Bonus-heavy deal

Per the pink newspaper, Rabiot’s fixed salary is actually ‘much lower’ than the €5m that was initially reported (believed to be around €3.5m). Instead, the midfielder has quite a lot of bonuses in his contract that are tied to personal and, above all, team achievements.

Rabiot press conference

For example, if Milan were to win the Coppa Italia and/or the Supercoppa Italiana, a ‘substantial bonus’ would be triggered for Rabiot. An even bigger one is in place for the Scudetto. The fact that the Frenchman accepted these terms shows that he believes in the project a lot.

Indeed, he even confirmed that he had offers from Champions League clubs but chose Milan because of their project and Allegri.
