GdS: Gila, Gomez, Gabriel and more – the centre-back targets Milan are evaluating

AC Milan are in the market for a centre-back ahead of the winter window, and there are a few names in their notebook.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have published a report that looks at the futures of Yann Bisseck and Strahinja Pavlovic, who are now established starters for Inter and Milan respectively. They mention that Galatasaray are still keen on the Serbian but that a sale is unlikely, given his recent rise.

If anything, Igli Tare and his team are actually more focused on adding to the defence rather than allowing one of the biggest strengths to depart. In this sense, there are some profiles to keep an eye out for in view of January.

Milan’s centre-back list

Among the most talked-about names is certainly Mario Gila, who remains one of Lazio’s key men. In the spring, Paris Saint-Germain had their eye on the Spaniard, but Claudio Lotito closed the door due to the transfer ban. Tare knows him well, having brought him to Italy while he was in the capital.

Liverpool’s Joe Gomez emerged as a target late in the summer window, and it’s possible this option will be pursued again. A deal for the Englishman seemed to be advancing quickly, but the Reds’ inability to land Marc Guehi brought things to a sudden halt.

Moreover, Milan and Inter’s scouts are watching three young centre-backs who play in Italy. One is Tarik Muharemovic, who was part of the Juventus youth system but is now owned by Sassuolo, and seems to have adapted to Serie A quickly.

Another name worth mentioning is Tiago Gabriel of Lecce, who has good ball-laying ability and has been Lecce’s brightest star so far. Finally there is Alessandro Circati, an Australian international who scored his first goal in Italy recently at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma.

Milan signed Koni De Winter from Genoa in the summer, but the impression is that they want to go further to further strengthen their ranks.
