Santiago Gimenez had been playing through ankle pains for some time, as he stated on social media, so the AC Milan forward has now opted to undergo surgery to fix the issue.

When a player announces their own medical issue, it is a bit questionable. When the coach has been so careful with injuries, this was made to look even stranger. Of course, this is the situation with Gimenez, though.

After the Atalanta game, his father suggested that he had an ankle issue. Since then, he hasn’t been seen training with the group. Initial fears of a few weeks now can be laughed at, given he has not set foot on the pitch for almost two months.

As a result, he will be absent for another six to eight weeks. Perhaps he will be back before then, but he will certainly not be seen in the next few games…

The surgery could complicate things, but he and his team are not putting the search on hold. Instead, it seems they are accelerating it.
