Rasmus Hojlund was a big name of interest for AC Milan this summer, but he will head to another Serie A club.

In the mercato, you have to sometimes be bold, and Milan have lacked that ability in the more recent period. Rather than going for a bigger name, they have instead decided to place their faith in Conrad Harder.

At 20 years old, he could be a masterstroke from the management. However, he is being thrown into the deep end, something which he may not be ready for. Hojlund, on the other hand, could well have been ready to make his second dive.

Hojlund’s offer

An exit from Manchester United was fairly likely this summer, but Ruben Amorim’s overlooking of the striker confirmed his fate. At this point, though, a decision had seemingly been made by the Rossoneri, who prioritised Victor Boniface and now Harder.

Though Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) states that it could have been different. Before making a deal for Harder, the club reached out to Hojlund, asking about his priorities. He replied, giving the club a ‘conditional offer’.

All that was requested was faith, in the form of a buy clause entered into his loan move. However, it did not arrive, and he said no. As a result, the Rossoneri moved for his compatriot quickly.
