GdS: Inter collect over €8m in ticket sales from Milan derby and set new record

A huge crowd will be present at San Siro tomorrow evening for the Inter-Milan clash, as you would expect, and it has helped set a new box office record.

Over the years, the ticket prices have increased quite a lot for Milan and Inter’s games, even if you account for inflation. Especially the big games have been affected, which isn’t exactly surprising, and it has led to several new box office records.

Tomorrow’s game between Inter and Milan is another example of that, as reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below). The Nerazzurri are the designated home side and thanks to the ticket prices set, they are expected to collect over €8m in box office revenue.

The previous record in Serie A was also set by Inter, for the exact same fixture as well (Inter-Milan in September last year). Then, the Nerazzurri collected €7.6m from the game, which one could definitely argue is already very high.

It should be noted that both Milan and Inter have collected more in the Champions League, as the games tend to be of higher (and rarer) calibre. Whether you view this as a positive development or not, however, is a different question as higher prices aren’t so good for the fans.
