GdS: Juventus thank Allegri for history despite new allegiance – the details

Yesterday, Massimiliano Allegri faced Juventus at the Allianz Stadium for the first time as an opposition coach in 12 years, once again, as the head coach of AC Milan.

Yesterday was the closing of a cycle that never really ended for Allegri. His final game at Juventus was the Coppa Italia final, during which he received a red card. As a result, he was unable to parade with the trophy and thus was never really given a chance to say goodbye.

So, when presented with the chance, albeit as the head coach of a different club, there was probably always going to be a show of support.

Juventus says Thank You

Gazzetta dello Sport reported that this was very much the case. When the Milan team sheet was read out, boos rang around the Allianz Stadium. Then, ‘Coach, Massimiliano Allegri’. The stadium offered an ovation to their former coach.

Applause, even if only for a few seconds, shows that even in a game this important, Allegri’s impact on the Bianconeri deserves to be recognised. In the stands, there was also a banner from the Curva Sud, “We are always proud of you, thank you for everything, Max Allegri.”

Messages on social media were also published, each thanking the coach, even welcoming him ‘home’. What is even more fitting is that Juventus now sit where the away dugout formerly was, so Allegri returned to his seat.
