GdS: Leao ‘must grow’ by watching Modric and Milan fan Gabbia – the reasons

AC Milan hope that Rafael Leao can grow even more than he has done so far, and there are two players to inspire him to do so. 

There are several players that Leao can learn from at Milan. However, if he is to reach the top, perhaps there are two to watch with more interest than others.

Modric and who?

Gazzetta dello Sport, this morning, writes ‘if only’ Leao tried harder, and references the messages that parents may have been told about their children. Whilst it may not be the question as frequently now, it still remains for some.

Talented? Of course. Done with his progress? Not at all. Leao has a long way to go yet, and he can become one of the best in the world. However, he must work to get there.

So far, he has taken advice and inspiration from Luka Modric, the pair reportedly work well together, with the Portuguese even watching in awe during training sometimes. Whilst the Ballon d’Or is a brilliant player to learn from, he may not be the only example.

In fact, perhaps he can also learn from Matteo Gabbia. The Italian may not have the natural talent of Leao. However, he works harder to show that he is earning of his place, whilst also displaying what it means to be trusted at a top level.

Whilst Modric may help him become a champion, Gabbia may help him become a deeper part of the fabric.
