GdS: Leao, Pulisic, Modric and more – the seven contract situations Milan are working on

1 week ago 60

AC Milan got Mike Maignan’s renewal over the line last month, but he is not the last player that they want to agree fresh terms with.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport point out, Maignan’s renewal was a necessity, given the face his deal was set to expire at the end of the season. Milan negotiated hard to get the Frenchman to change his mind and extend, thawing the frost that had emerged early in 2025.

The next signing is expected to be Fikayo Tomori, currently tied to a contract until June 2027. From a pillar of the Scudetto-winning defence, through the turbulence of recent seasons, the Englishman has once again become a solid option and will be rewarded for it.

Another defender will be up for renewal: Davide Bartesaghi. He signed a contract until 2030 last May, so there is no immediate rush. In the meantime, however, the Italian has evolved from a promising youngster to a starter on the left flank. Rather than moving the deadline, he will get a pay rise.

Also in discussion is the future of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, tied to the club until 2027. His new status as a regular starter and the presence of Allegri – who values him for his qualities and physique as a midfielder – will be a potential incentive for the next extension.

In the summer of 2023, Rafael Leao signed a five-year contract extension that put an end to long negotiations. His salary made him the richest in the squad, at over €5m net per season, plus bonuses on top. Leao sees Milan as the club of his future, which is a good starting point in talks.

For Christian Pulisic (contracted until 2027), a new contract seemed imminent before becoming a sensitive issue. He is currently the top scorer and, despite a subdued 2026 season, remains in the prime of his career. The American could demand a salary equal to the team’s top players.

Among the strikers whose contracts expire this summer is Niclas Füllkrug, on loan at Milan with an option to buy from West Ham for €5m. He has made seven appearances and scored one goal for the Rossoneri, and could be an option as a back-up striker. He has another four months to earn a stay.

Regarding Luka Modric, his contract expires in 2026 with an option for a further year. Milan will exercise it only with Modric’s agreement. He is delighted with his experience in Milan, but before deciding to stay for another year, he will want to carefully his fitness and motivation.
