GdS: Luka Modric ready for Milan curtain-raiser against Chelsea – where he will play

5 days ago 22

After Ardon Jashari, it’s Luka Modric’s turn to make his AC Milan debut, and he will do so against Chelsea this afternoon.

Yesterday, the Swiss international made his Milan debut in a friendly against Leeds in Dublin. Today at 16:00 CEST. in London, the Croatian star will play his first match for the Rossoneri, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews).

The former Real Madrid player will start in Max Allegri’s 3-5-1-1 formation, and should be used as a left mezzala with Samuele Ricci as the playmaker in front of the defence and Youssouf Fofana as the right-sided box-to-box player.

Against the Blues, Massimiliano Allegri will give minutes to those who didn’t play yesterday against Leeds, such as Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rafael Leao, Davide Bartesaghi and Mike Maignan, as well as those who only played a few minutes, such as Alexis Saelemaekers, Samuele Ricci and Filippo Terracciano.

All eyes will be on Modric, who will finally begin his Rossoneri adventure on the pitch. As we outlined in a recent feature, Milan fans can expect to see a player who – despite being almost 40 years of age – is still playing at an elite level and can make a big difference after the exit of Tijjani Reijnders.
