GdS: Maignan and Leao applauded by Milan dressing room after Roma performances

The AC Milan squad gave Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan a hearty welcome back to the dressing room after the Roma victory.

This weekend, the full team were fantastic. Milan executed their game plan to perfection, and whilst it certainly could have been a little more convincing, the signs of positivity are indeed there. However, they were boosted by two.

Group celebrations

Firstly, for the goal, whilst Strahinja Pavlovic is rightly getting praise, more went to Rafael Leao for his work to set up the goal. His general performance, after returning from injury this week, also adds to this.

Then, Mike Maignan’s save from the spot against Paulo Dybala. A chance to overturn two trends, an almost inevitable opponent was stopped by a goalkeeper whose penalty record has been regularly scrutinised recently.

As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, the duo took part in post-game interviews, with both being voted as the Men of the Match, so they lingered behind the team, waiting until their duties were completed.

When they returned to the dressing room, though, they were greeted warmly. In fact, the report writes that they were cheered and applauded back into the changing area. Another sign of the group’s togetherness and appreciation for one another.
