GdS: Maignan’s agent in Italy after Como heroics – the assist from the goalkeeper

AC Milan wanted to renew Mike Maignan’s contract regardless of how he played against Como. Now, the wish to do so will have increased.

There have been a number of strong performances by Maignan this season; if there hadn’t, Milan would not be in their current position. Put simply, the goalkeeper is performing at a high level and a renewal is the priority.

A lacklustre year would have maybe halted the idea once again. However, time after time, the Rossoneri have found the Frenchman when they have needed a hero.

As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, he is close to a renewal, and a five-year deal is on the table. Fees are ‘an issue’, but the atmosphere between the parties is better than it ever has been before and perhaps better than it’ll ever be again, as the report suggests.

Regarding those fees, things could be ironed out soon, with it being reported that Jonathan Kebe, his agent, is actually in Italy. In fact, he could show up at Casa Milan ‘with the video of the saves’ from Thursday night and leave it to the Diavolo to sort things out.

It is unlikely that things will unfold like that. However, if there were any reservations about figures, they have surely disappeared.
