Whilst AC Milan have improved a lot since last season, they are not a finished article just yet. Massimiliano Allegri knows this too well.

The draw against Juventus and the loss against Cremonese, whilst weeks apart, show that this Milan side are not complete just yet. Though they were never going to be in the opening two months of the new Serie A season.

Allegri’s demands

As Gazzetta dello Sport recalls, Allegri stated that it was ‘maybe better’ that his side didn’t beat Juventus, proving that there are still things he doesn’t like about this team. This was then proved when he stated, ‘there are still many things to fix’.

Tensions remain high at Milanello by choice; complacency can’t set in, and the Italian is keen to keep it this way. However, it is also a mentality that you are not perfect and won’t be instantly, this breeds winners.

Defensively, he believes his team can improve, even if the bar is already very high – they have the second-best defensive record in the league. However, they can falter in moments, and this causes errors.

Elsewhere, more consistency is needed. When they get going, Milan are ‘enjoyable’, but they need to be on it constantly; it can’t be a case of when.
