GdS: Milan already ‘pressing’ to convince Modric regarding extra year – the situation

1 week ago 38

Luka Modric will have the final say regarding his future beyond this season, but AC Milan are already working to convince him.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier today, Modric is playing without a break as he has started 12 of 12 Serie A games for Milan and will make it 13 out of 13 tonight. The good news is that he doesn’t even remotely resemble a player nearing the end of his career.

On the contrary, Modric continues to put up elite numbers and he has been placed at the centre of Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical plan as the regista. This has led to suggestions that a renewal for another season (2026-27) is a mere formality, even if there is more to it than that.

Modric’s future

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report, Modric’s contract with Milan is for one season with an option for an extra year. The option is in favour of the Rossoneri, but the agreement between the parties stipulates that the Croatian has the final say.

Luka will decide after the World Cup, the fifth of his career, whether he will play overseas this summer. Milan hope to keep him and they are already ‘pressing’ to try and convince him ahead of time.
