GdS: Milan begin searching for striker ahead of January – first few names emerge

Santiago Gimenez hasn’t scored in over 10 hours of Serie A action, and this has inevitably forced AC Milan to look for solutions.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report, the Milan management tried to offload Gimenez in the summer but in the end they gave him until January to prove himself, and his return of zero league goals in over 600 minutes of play could force new reflections.

The CEO Giorgio Furlani and the sporting director Igli Tare are looking around ahead of the next winter transfer window at potential options to arrive and fix the striker issue that Massimiliano Allegri is battling.

The names on the list

Artem Dovbyk’s name remains one that Milan are looking at, having also scored his first goal of the season for Roma last night. He was linked with a move towards the end of the summer, in a swap deal involving Gimenez that never came to fruition.

In addition to the Ukrainian striker, Milan are also reportedly pursuing two ‘new’ targets: Joaquin Panichelli of Strasbourg and Jonathan Burkardt of Eintracht Frankfurt.

The former is a 23-year-old Argentine who played for River Plate, and is being eyed by several other European giants, given his 10 goals already in Ligue 1. The latter, meanwhile, has so far scored nine goals in 12 games for the Bundesliga club, which means he is valued at over €30m.

Among these names could also include an old flame: Joshua Zirkzee of Manchester United. However, the Rossoneri are unlikely to make the first move for the Dutchman, especially after his rejection in the summer of 2024. If he were offered, though, they could sit down and talk.
