GdS: Milan evaluate signing of €25m-rated forward ‘for the future’ after scouting mission

Another source has linked AC Milan with a move for Konstantinos Karetsas, potentially in the January transfer window too.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) have picked out five signings for the Scudetto contenders to make in order to boost their title hopes, and for Milan they believe that an intervention in the attacking department is needed.

A sign of fate?

Sometimes there are signs that seem like destiny. Konstantinos Karetsas – Genk’s talented left-footed forward – hadn’t scored this season before the most recent round of the Europa League.

He is an attacking midfielder who plays mostly on the right, he’s more accustomed to setting up goals than scoring them himself. Assists are his specialty, with nine already in all competitions. The match against Basel, in short, was the classic exception.

At the Cegeka Arena on November 27th, there was a scout present from Milan, who had come to Belgium specifically to watch him. Apparently, the report on the 18-year-old was very positive, and not just because of his Del Piero-esque goal.

Born in Belgium, he has chosen Greece as his national team, already scoring three goals in nine appearances for them. Despite being 173cm (5’8″) tall and small in build, he can play at a high tempo and thrives in one-on-one situations, thanks to his pace in tight spaces.

Sure, he’s not the type of player the Rossoneri can immediately benefit from given there is a question mark about where he fits in a 3-5-2, but Milan could beat the competition to land him, which is growing. It will cost to do so, though. How much? At least €25m, but it could end up a bargain.
