This January, AC Milan will be looking to London for support in the mercato. Another defender is required, whilst the arrival of a striker would also be appreciated.
Things at Milan are fine; they sit at the top of the league in Serie A, which is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. However, there are certainly faults in the squad, and Massimiliano Allegri would like to see them fixed.
Of course, these holes in the squad had already been identified ahead of now. But a lack of movement in the summer – at least in the correct profiles – has resulted in questions being asked.
A ‘proper’, or perhaps traditional No.9, would be liked by Allegri, as well as the addition of another centre-half.
London calling
This morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport, as seen below, reports that the Rossoneri will look to London to solve their issues, or at least try to. Niclas Fullkrug’s arrival seems like a matter of when, not if. However, he may not be the only one.
Axel Disasi is a name of interest once again, and the connections with Chelsea could be taken advantage of for the third mercato in a row. His name arose six months ago, when Malick Thiaw was solved, but nothing came of it.
At Casa Milan, the feeling is that they do not want to invest more money after a busy summer, largely due to the lack of Champions League football this season. So, the possibility of Disasi’s agents pushing for a free loan is appealing.
It seems that it will be a case of temporary solutions, rather than long-term problem solving.
