GdS: Milan player ratings for Liverpool thrashing – brighter than ever before

2 weeks ago 76

AC Milan won easily against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. As you would expect, then, the player ratings reflect this.

Things must be taken with a pinch of salt, of course. However, Milan were fantastic against Liverpool yesterday. A clear style of play has been implemented, and players are seemingly sure of their roles and how to conduct them.

In other words, a stark difference compared to the end of last season. So, for this reason, Gazzetta dello Sport gave the Rossoneri 8/10 for the performance yesterday, a very high score indeed, especially for a friendly, as can be seen below.

Massimiliano Allegri, too, was given an eight, with his style being shown on the pitch very clearly. Defend well and attack quickly.

Player ratings

Pervis Estupinan was given the lowest score of the game, with a 5.5. However, his minutes were limited, so we cannot be too critical here, as well as considering he has only just joined the club and the group.

Mike Maignan was given a 6, very average and with nothing to shout about, there is no reason to give him anything higher or lower. Davide Bartesaghi and Strahinja Pavlovic were both given 6.5s, whilst substitute Pietro Terracciano was also given the same score.

Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Youssouf Fofana and Christian Pulisic were all given scores of 7, above average, and their performances were solid. Alexis Saelemaekers, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Samuele Ricci were all given a score a notch higher, with 7.5s, all very deserved, with each having a big impact.

Scorer of a brace, Noah Okafor, was given an 8, with the Swiss putting in a good performance after coming off the bench. Impressive indeed.

As was given in our eyes, Rafael Leao was the MOTM for Gazzetta, who scored the Portuguese 8.5/10. For the first two goals, the winger was instrumental, scoring and assisting, and he has already begun to show what Allegri’s work could look like. Hopefully, we will only see more of that player now.
