GdS: Milan return home with ‘four more certainties’ – what Torino showed

On Monday, AC Milan claimed another big three points to help with their pursuit of the Scudetto. Of course, there were flaws, but there were also a few positives.

Winning by 3-2 will rarely be a scoreline appreciated by managers, less so Massimiliano Allegri, who would prefer a 1-0 win every day of the week. Nevertheless, the Italian has also been given some positives from his team’s second trip to Turin this season.

Four certainties

The first concerns Samuele Ricci, as Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Whilst he did not take his chance to score, he provided solidity in midfield and showed once again that he is more than capable of stepping in when he is required.

Then, Davide Bartesaghi’s performance showed that he has ‘climbed another step up the ladder’, with him ‘never being so crucial’. The defender came close to scoring at a key moment, and whilst he has occasional struggles, his overall game is a strong one. Pervis Estupinan will be left watching for a while.

Moving towards the attack, Christopher Nkunku’s performance has been widely scrutinised. However, he did improve in the second half. It seems he is aware of the pressure on him, but there are no replacements available. Maybe the pressure can be lessened with the injury to Rafael Leao, allowing him to focus on football and not on who is ready to take his place.

Finally, the last player of focus is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who confirmed himself as a ‘Joker’ card. The Englishman can play anywhere, it seems, and the last week has seen him play on the right of midfield. Now, it is a case of giving him continuity, but he has the gift of versatility, which could provide him with more chances.
