GdS: Milan suffer big injury blow with Rabiot set to miss one month – the latest

2 weeks ago 38

The October international break has brought only bad news for Massimiliano Allegri’s AC Milan side, at least on the injury front.

Pervis Estupinan suffered an ankle issue, Alexis Saelemaekers suffered a muscle problem and Christian Pulisic is flying home on Thursday with a hamstring problem that is believed already to be a serious one.

Rabiot facing a month out

The latest blow concerns Rabiot. As MilanNews report, the Frenchman underwent an MRI scan for the left calf injury sustained while playing for the national team, which revealed a tear in the soleus muscle.

The former Marseille player will be re-evaluated in about ten days, but a month-long layoff is expected. As a reminder, Rafael Leao had a calf issue that ended up keeping him out for over five weeks, so a similar period of absence feels probable.

In the next month, Milan have games against Fiorentina, Pisa, Atalanta, Roma and Parma before the next break. After the November internationals, the away derby against Inter follows, and it seems an obvious target to aim for that particular fixture as one that he could come back for.

It is a big blow for Milan and for Allegri, given that Rabiot had started the season well and had nailed down a spot in the starting line-up. Now, it will be up to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Youssouf Fofana and Samuele Ricci to make up for his absence.
