This season, Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic have been pushed into central roles, but they have barely played together for AC Milan.
One of the biggest upsets of the season so far is the fact that Leao and Pulisic have barely played together. Injuries have haunted the team, but when it comes to those two, the issues have been frustratingly regular.
If one is injured, the other, seemingly, is just waiting to miss games. A real frustration, and the reason why Milan are being so cautious now with Leao, ensuring that he returns only when he is ready.
Leao and Pulisic: A problematic pair
So far, as Gazzetta dello Sport writes, the duo have combined for 135 minutes. A painful figure when considering that this is the ideal forward partnership for the Rossoneri, and the one which the fans want to see the most.
With the potential to devour defences, Allegri is chomping at the bit to use them together, but remaining patient, not pushing for returns.
After all, their struggles have come one after the other, which is seen in the fact that they have only started two games together. Barring that, it is occasional moments together. Agonising at the moment, but soon to be unleashed.
Who knows how high their ceiling is together? We may soon find out.
