The AC Milan squad trained in near-freezing temperatures at Milanello on Friday, preparing for the derby at the weekend.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it seems that the bitter cold along with a few snowflakes was enough to discourage fans, as no one was looking for photos or autographs outside the gates of the training complex.
Massimiliano Allegri, however, didn’t care about the temperature and had the team train on the pitch again today despite it being almost zero degrees Celsius (2°C to be precise). Heaters were turned on under the turf well before the start of the session to prevent the pitch from freezing.
The only player who is not available for the derby is Santiago Gimenez, the Mexican who sat out the Parma game due to a long-standing ankle problem. The former Feyenoord player continues to work on his own to regain his fitness and finally overcome the ankle pain, so he will sit in the stands.
For the rest of this morning’s session (which began at 11:30), everyone was present and in the group. The internationals who returned from their respective coaches’ call-ups reported no discomfort, and those who remained at Milanello seeking peak condition (Rabiot and Pulisic) worked well.
The Frenchman and the American, barring any surprises, will start on Sunday evening. Tomorrow afternoon, another session will take place, followed by the team’s retreat at Milanello. Allegri’s press conference will precede the session before lunch.
