AC Milan signed Luka Modric in the summer with aspirations of returning to winning silverware, but it may have been to extend their chances of doing so.
Modric is someone who has shared a dressing room with the very best talents in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Karim Benzema, just to name a few. The Croatian is one of the most decorated players in world football.
Experience like that rubs off on others, and whilst he has not signed for Milan to give up winning titles, he will also help create new champions, it is hoped.
Modric and Allegri for Leao
Gazzetta dello Sport speak today about the impact he could have on Rafael Leao in what could be the Portuguese’s last chance in the Rossoneri colours. Massimiliano Allegri and Modric can both help to create the ‘champion’ Leao, which has been sought for so long.
Adrien Rabiot said as much, suggesting that he could be great, but he has his flaws. Flaws that, ultimately, could see him revert to a bench player, like he was for large parts of last season.

Modric and Allegri, then, can be examples of what is expected, the former more so. The Croatian is a leader, a sign of the bar being raised, and Leao needs to reach it.
If he can ‘become a Modric’, assert himself on the pitch with desire and character, then the Diavolo would solve many problems. It would also bring that ‘champion’ label to Leao, one that has evaded him for so long.
