AC Milan have ‘found the best solution’ to their midfield this summer, it seems. Something which could alleviate other worries.
There are multiple different opinions surrounding the Milan summer window. Most believe that it was an average, perhaps even good mercato. However, the saving grace is definitely the midfield; without that, the Rossoneri would struggle.
As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write, it ‘shines brightly’ both literally and when looking at honours. Luka Modric, Ballon d’Or, multiple Champions Leagues and La Ligas, then Adrien Rabiot, who boasts another 21 different trophies.
Now, this could be the ‘solution’ to the leadership issues which have been seen of late. In theory, it should be the case, but things must be tested and solved.
Variety of solutions
The starting idea, if everyone were fit, would be Modric and Rabiot alongside someone like Ardon Jashari or even Samuele Ricci. The former was the most expensive signing of the midfield this summer, then the latter was a long-term target.
A complete revolution compared to last season’s core, and a better core at that now. Modric may need rest now and again, but there is a plethora of talent behind him that can bridge the gap, or even take the reins when required.
Latest signing
The move for Rabiot was a difficult one, but he was announced late on Monday evening. However, it should be worth it. At Juventus, the Frenchman was a regular under Massimiliano Allegri, whilst he also provides general quality.
Allegri wished for him this summer and insisted that he could be the fix for the midfield, and the Rossoneri eventually got it done. He brings depth, experience and even goals (he scored 10 for Marseille last season).
Interchangeability
Then, there are the remainers: Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana. So far, their first games have been questionable this season, but Allegri believes they can manage 15 goals between them this season, after Lecce, that is now 14.
Regardless of their goals, they can add other characteristics to an already unique midfield, ensuring that Allegri has the tools to build what he needs. The midfield can come to the rescue, after all, it is now deemed to be a ‘super midfield’.
