The countdown to ‘Luka Modric day’ has begun, as he will soon be officially unveiled to AC Milan fans and will begin training.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport write, Modric showed up in Milan on July 14th to undergo his medical and sign the one-year contract worth €3.5m net per year (plus an option until 2027) that will tie him to his boyhood club Milan.
Now, however, we’re really close to the actual event, which is the beginning of his time at the club. The date circled in red on the calendar is Monday, when the midfielder will arrive in the city for the official presentation scheduled for 17:00 CEST at Casa Milan.
It will be his first act as a new Milan player, although he’s already been to the club’s headquarters to sign his new deal and record content for the club’s social media channels, including his first official interview.
Afterwards, there will be a crowd in the city centre, because the Croatian will leave Casa Milan to head to the club shop that is not too far from the iconic Duomo. There, he is expected to do some pictures and autographs.

Milan’s Modric plan
Modric won’t be at Milanello on Monday. He will undergo the initial physical tests (the ones all the other players underwent in early July) on Tuesday morning at Milanello along with Santiago Gimenez, who is finishing his vacation after the Gold Cup with Mexico.
The first session with his team-mates is scheduled for the next afternoon because the team, arriving at Malpensa Airport this evening after the long journey from Perth, will have three and a half days off. Some will meet the Croatian captain at lunchtime, others in the dressing room before the session.
Massimiliano Allegri has already spoken on the phone with the former Real Madrid player. He was the primary sponsor of the operation put together by sporting director Igli Tare and has clear ideas on how to use him: he envisions him as a mezzala and only in certain matches as a regista.
More specifically, when Milan will have a lot of the ball, he can play in front of the defence. Allegri already has a coexistence between him and Samuele Ricci in mind, because they are good at controlling the ball and thus the tempo.

Modric is enthusiastic about the new adventure and accepted it because he’s convinced he’ll find playing time, perform well, and perhaps even fight for trophies, as he has consistently done in recent years at Real Madrid.
He won’t be coming to Milan just to prepare for the World Cup experience with his national team. Let’s be clear, he wants to be at his best in June and finish strong. Modric turns 40 in a few weeks, but is keen to show that retirement can wait and that he didn’t choose Milan just to get closer to home.
It’s not his style, but Giorgio Furlani, Tare, and Allegri know this. That’s why they took somewhat of a bet on the man with six Champions League wins. They believe he is a true winner who will transform Milan, and things will soon get underway.
