GdS: Multiple clubs expressed interest in two of Milan’s Italian talents – the background

There has been a fair bit of interest in two of AC Milan’s young Italian talents, but the club had no intention of selling either.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that both Lorenzo Torriani and Davide Bartesaghi are highly regarded in Italy and abroad by other clubs, but Milan chose to focus on them and didn’t question them, even including both in the first team squad.

Things went very differently with Mattia Liberali who left on a permanent deal, and with Francesco Camarda as well for whom a loan deal was seen to be the best choice. Torriani and Bartesaghi, though, remains.

Lyon, led by Paulo Fonseca – the coach who launched him at Milan – were interested in the goalkeeper, but nothing came of it. Several teams were interested in the defender, not least Roma, but again nothing materialised.

Massimiliano Allegri has put his faith in Bartesaghi above all as he will be the first reserve on the left side of the defence. In essence, he will be the back-up to Pervis Estupinan but he could also provide cover for Strahinja Pavlovic too.
