GdS: New San Siro to be ready for 2031 opening – the road ahead for Milan and Inter

AC Milan and Inter bought San Siro earlier this month, and the clubs will hopefully be in their new stadium ahead of the 2031-32 season.

There is a lot to look forward to for Milan and Inter. In the present day, both are competing for the Scudetto, and they have set themselves up well ahead of the Derby della Madonnina next weekend. However, in the long-term, they have a new stadium to move to.

It has taken time, but now the clubs own San Siro, after signing the deed last week, and the next few steps have been confirmed after this took place.

San Siro roadmap

As this morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport writes (seen below), the implementation plans should be presented within the next few months and will hopefully be approved by February 2027, at the latest.

Then, the bureaucratic steps must be gone through, so the environmental impact assessment, as well as the issuing of new permits.

Once that is completed, work can begin, and this is expected to be from October 2027, so just less than two years on from when the deed was signed, and it should take 36 months to complete, thus being ready in October 2030.

With this in mind, the clubs are hoping to inaugurate the stadium between December 2030 and January 2031, ready for the 2031-32 season and, perhaps more importantly, EURO 2032.
