Now that the summer transfer window has officially closed, Massimiliano Allegri knows the players that he has at his disposal.
Milan were among the most active clubs in the mercato, completing between 35 and 40 operations depending on which ones you prefer to count. It was a sizeable overhaul of the squad, one that was arguably needed after a disastrous 2024-25 season.
Predicting the line-up
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Allegri is likely to tweak the system slightly. In the early part of the season he has relied upon a 3-5-2, but the paper predict that he will move to a 3-4-2-1, to accomodate the new signing Christopher Nkunku.
Nkunku is tipped to play on the left behind the striker Rafael Leao, with Christian Pulisic on the right to complete the trident. That means a man is removed from midfield, with Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric tipped to be the double pivot.
Pervis Estupinan and Alexis Saelemaekers retain their places as the wing-backs. Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic should remain the three-man defence ahead of the goalkeeper and club captain, Mike Maignan.
Predicted Milan XI (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Modric, Rabiot, Estupinan; Pulisic, Nkunku; Leao.
