GdS: Nine stitches but a sigh of relief – Pavlovic travels back separately after head scans

Strahinja Pavlovic had to have stitches in his head after a collision with Pietro Comuzzo during Sunday’s draw against Fiorentina.

It was one of those games where Comuzzo seemed determined to do damage with his head. He scored the opening goal for Fiorentina midway through the second half, nodding in a corner, and then at the other end an aerial duel with Pavlovic ended with them both in a heap on the floor.

There was certainly a lot more worry regarding Pavlovic who at first appeared to be knocked out. The medical staff ran onto the field quickly, and it became apparent that there was blood streaming from his head.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Pavlovic had to have nine stitches to seal up a cut on his left temple. He was immediately substituted, and the Serbian defender was taken to the hospital for tests – presumably concussion – which were negative.

Thus, last night he returned to Milan by train accompanied by a member of the Milan medical staff, although the team had already departed earlier. Pavlovic is expected to be available to face Como, and Allegri will meanwhile get Fikayo Tomori back, who has served his suspension.
