We are now in the final week of the winter transfer window, and there is a possibility that AC Milan’s business could be done.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Milan begin the final stretch of the January mercato ‘remaining vigilant and evaluating potential opportunities’. Another positive performance from Koni De Winter has shown that a signing for the defence perhaps isn’t as urgent.
This doesn’t mean another centre-back won’t arrive, allowing David Odogu to be loaned out. However, it must be the right formula (loan with an option to buy) and someone who provides guarantees.
It can not be a young player to develop, so they must be experienced. Kim Min-jae was highly sought after, but Bayern Munich won’t let him go, and his salary is prohibitive.
Looking ahead to next season, Igli Tare has been eyeing Mario Gila (for some time), who Lazio is currently unwilling to sell now. In June however, the situation could change.
Keep an eye on the movements for Milan Futuro (and beyond). The Rossoneri have two non-EU player slots to fill, and they want to do so. Andrej Kostic is liked, but Partizan Belgrade’s demands are deemed too high. A last-ditch attempt shouldn’t be ruled out.
Meanwhile, it seems that Senegalese defender El Hadj Malick Cissé (who recently turned 18) will take one of the slots.
