GdS: Parma want €40m for young talent as Milan, Inter and Liverpool circle

AC Milan remain very strong admirers of Giovanni Leoni, but they are not alone and Parma continue to hike the price up.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanPress) had someone present to watch Leoni in action yesterday during an intra-squad friendly between the Parma first team and their Primavera. The teenage centre-back seemed absolutely calm and played 45 minutes at a high level.

Destined for the top

Leoni is one of the most sought-after young Italians, but he’s not afraid of making the big jump. Milan, Inter and Liverpool are all interested in the teenage and while he doesn’t seem to be fazed by the interest from the big clubs, Parma have set their stall out.

Knowing they have a top talent on their hands, the Ducali have fixed an asking price of €40m in order to sell Leoni. Despite the growing hype, the calmness of the defender is also evident among those who follow him every day.

“Nothing bothers this guy. He catches, runs, and marks,” the paper claims to have heard. The other concept that best describes the former Sampdoria player is maturity, reiterated by his teammate Marco Pellegrino in a press conference: “This is precisely what struck me. Just look at how he trains and how old he is.”

It was recently reported that Parma believe Leoni could even be worth €70m in a year so they are in no rush to sell, while Milan would surely have to sell someone to fund a move.
