GdS: Predicted XIs for Milan vs. Cremonese – formation fluidity expected

AC Milan will start their 2025-26 league campaign this evening and Max Allegri has decided the eleven players that will start against Cremonese.

With a relatively easy opener on paper, Milan need to start their season with a good win in front of the fans at San Siro. Allegri will be back in the dugout for this one, following the ban against Bari, and it seems he has decided the starting XI already.

Gazzetta dello Sport believes so, anyway, and while the newspaper has the formation listed as a 4-3-3, it looks more like a 3-5-2 to us. The numbers don’t matter as much as the players on the pitch, though, and one selection tells us a lot.

Modric gets the nod

The fact that Modric will play from the first minute instead of Samuele Ricci is a clear sign of what Allegri wants: experience. He knows that all opening games are delicate in their own way, and the Croatian could definitely help the Rossoneri untangle some knots.

Aside from that, however, the XI is exactly what you would expect with Pervis Estupinan and Alexis Saelemaekers on the flanks. Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez are teaming up in attack once again, hoping to combine for another goal.

Predicted Milan XI (4-3-3/3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic, Estupinan; Loftus-Cheek, Modric, Fofana; Saelemaekers, Gimenez, Pulisic.

Predicted Cremonese XI (3-5-2): Audero; Terracciano, Baschirotto, Bianchetti; Zerbin, Collocolo, Bondo, Grassi, Pezzella; Okereke, Bonazzoli.
